Basic Lean Training in Phase Pull Planning and Tips for Effective Pull Planning Meetings!

Join Master’s students from WIT’s “Modern Construction Delivery Methods” class and fellow AEC professionals for basic hands-on Lean training in Phase Pull Planning during the first hour! Stay for the second hour to review facilitation and participation tips for effective Phase Pull Planning meetings!

Phase Pull Planning is a typical first step in lean implementation on AEC projects. In particular, Phase Pull Planning meetings help to (1) make handoffs explicit between workers to deliver key milestones, (2) establish common work paths, (3) experiment with sequencing alternatives, and (4) consider different production rates for the supply chain.

We will first practice Phase Pull Planning in mixed teams using a Block Tower simulation. Try your hand at facilitating a Phase Pull Plan with LCI New England Community of Practice members standing by to assist. Then, we will discuss how you can improve the effectiveness of Phase Pull Planning meetings as a facilitator and as a participant! Those with more experience – please consider sharing your lessons learned!
