KLH Engineers: Data Integration of the Design & Construction Value Stream

KLH Engineers has developed a customized database and modifications within Revit in support of data driven project delivery. This presentation will explore the ways they are leveraging BIM and enhancing Revit as part of their broader technical strategy. We will hear how software programmers have been integrated into their internal teams; how their database functions; view tools and families they are creating in Revit, and hear about the resources they provide owners and contractors that improve the project workflow.

Jim Tavernelli, KLH Engineers - Mr. Tavernelli has worked with KLH Engineers for over 18 years and serves as President and COO. Much of the firm’s leading innovation accomplishments and successful “technical strategy” are derived from his transformational leadership style. His top-down commitment to data driven design through Revit and bottom-up execution strategy are recognized at all levels of the organization. His commitment to a team focused on continuous improvement has resulted in KLH’s vibrant and innovative culture.

Joe Kohrs, KLH Engineers - With 35 years’ experience, Mr. Kohrs serves as Executive Director of Engineering and is a past president of KLH. His responsibilities include mentoring staff and setting the firm’s engineering direction. Project responsibilities include overall quality control and managing the efficient design of systems including energy management systems, water / air transport systems, piping / duct systems, temperature controls, ventilation / indoor air quality, chiller / boiler systems and cost control.

Alex Jonovski, KLH Engineers - Mr. Jonovski currently serves as Principal and Director of Project Management. From that position, he examines best practices and modified workflows that provide a greater level of collaboration among designers and contractors. He is a frequent speaker on integrated delivery models and leveraging data in building design and construction. Most recently, he co-presented alongside Ratio architects at the 2019 BILT NA conference in Seattle, WA.
