As we are currently experiencing, appropriate supply chain/distributor engagement can make or break a project. We will discuss the benefits of early supply chain engagement, regardless of scope resulting in a smoother, cost effective buyout process and more accurate delivery dates.

With the construction tsunami anticipated because of Covid-19 fallout, we will walk through the many advantages of pre-installed door hardware and the many ways it reduces waste on project sites. In addition, we will discuss firsthand the feedback on our internal kaizen and value stream map events and the benefits they have brought about.


Erin Anderson (CM-LEAN, DBIA, CDT) handles Client Relations for KENDELL. She has 20+ years’ experience in the commercial construction industry ranging from GC Field Engineer, Framing/Stucco/Drywall PM, and Manufacturer Architectural Consultant focused on building envelope (roof/walls). With perspectives from GC, Subcontractor, Manufacturer and Distributor positions, she came to doors and hardware 5 years ago with a desire to elevate the door/hardware distributor to more of a trade partner and help alleviate some of the persistent scope/delivery issues. 

Hannah Anderson is the lead Project Manager for the KENDELL Des Moines team. Hannah has 20 years’ experience in the Des Moines commercial construction market in Estimating and Project Management with both GC’s and subcontractors. Hannah has spent the last 6 years as a Project Manager in the door and hardware industry. With her varied background and focus on collaboration she is working to continually improve the KENDELL process. Hannah is a graduate of Iowa State with a BS in Construction Engineering.

Jon Swanson (DHT, AHC) is Senior Sales & Estimator for KENDELL in Iowa. Jon has 15+ years’ experience in the Iowa commercial door and hardware industry with previous positions in Detail/Engineering and Project Management. Jon has been involved with the Iowa Doors & Hardware Institute (DHI) for over 12 years including serving as its President from 2012-2014. Jon’s most recent focus is on pre-installed door hardware as well as design/specification assistance to the architectural and design-build community and overall improvements to our project participation and performance.
