Leaning on the Trades, a Trade Centered Presentation and Tour

Join in an interactive presentation in which Local Trade Partners will discuss their own initiatives to reduce waste, increase standardization and continuously improve. Baker Triangle Prefab and Brandt will highlight some prefabrication solutions and discuss the impact that prefabrication had on the Medical City Plano project. Sam Balunda and Preston Pressley of Baker Triangle Prefab will discuss the different exterior wall prefabrication systems that they offer as well as other creative solutions that they have implemented that support the other divisions of Baker.

Scott Gross of Cummings Electric will highlight the importance of cultural change at a leadership level and how to get buy in across a company. Scott will share strategies on how Cummings Electric has made a change with regards to how they plan work and tackle continuous improvement as well as the advantages of making sure all team members are on the same page and bought into initiatives.

We will have the opportunity to tour Baker’s Prefabrication shop and gain an understanding of the manufacturing process that takes place.

Scott Gross - Cummings Electric -  Scott is a partner at Cummings Electrical, and has been with the firm since the beginning. In 2008, he partnered with Tim Cummings in another company, Specialty Electrical Products, L.L.C. and this is where his journey into prefabrication started. In 2013, as result of a business transaction, he re-joined the Cummings Electrical team in a VP role overseeing the Construction Support Groups (Manufacturing, purchasing, logistics, VDC). In 2016 he joined the Cummings CI Steering Team that started exploring CI and Leadership Development. This team eventually developed the Continuous Improvement Leadership program that has been implemented  company-wide and currently has a large focus on enculturating CI throughout the company.

Preston Pressley - Baker Triangle Prefab - Preston is Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Baker Triangle. Preston holds a degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University, Class of 2011. He currently is the Chair of the TEXO Young Constructors Council, and also serves on the TEXO Education Foundation Board. Preston began his career in the preconstruction department, working on projects such as the Baylor Waxahachie Replacement Hospital, Southwest Airlines Flight Training Center and Operations Support Buildings, and Baylor Sammons Collins Cancer Center. Preston’s role has a large focus on the advancement and education of the use of prefabricated components throughout the Texas markets. With a strong focus on the fabrication of fully manufactured exterior wall panel assemblies, one of Preston’s key roles is to spend time with owners, architects, and contractors alike to better help them understand the benefits that prefabrication can bring to a project.

Sam Balunda - Baker Triangle Prefab - Sam is the Preconstruction Manager of Baker Triangle Prefab and is a graduate of Texas Tech University.

Paul Baker - Brandt - Paul is an Assistant Project Manager at Brandt. Paul has worked to improve the fabrication facilities (Sheet metal and Plumbing/piping shops) by implementing lean principles to increase production as well as altering systems to better suit customer needs.
