Leveraging Technology for Lean Construction (Greater Des Moines CoP)

As the availability of technology adapts for construction applications, evaluating its ability to save money, time and create a safer workplace becomes critical in the early stages of project planning. Examples of technology use and an evaluation of its actual versus planned impact are presented for the new U.S. Courthouse project in Des Moines, Iowa.

• Brad Thompson, Ryan Companies
  Brad holds architectural degrees from both Iowa State University and   Arizona State University. Prior to coming to Ryan Companies 15-years ago, he   worked in the design realm with design-build contractors. Previous Ryan   projects include work on the U.S. Courthouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and   projects with the University of Iowa, John Deere, and other commercial   development projects. Additionally, Brad spent two years as Ryan’s corporate   Director of Integration working to streamline processes between development,   design, construction, and property management.
• Brandon Woolery, Ryan Companies
  An Iowa State construction engineering graduate, Brandon has worked at Ryan Companies as a project manager for the last eight years. In that time, he has been part of major projects for the downtown Principal campus and John Deere. In addition to his project management responsibilities, Brandon has also developed specialties in scheduling and financial management for multi-year, multi-phase projects.
