This presentation will include how the Hy-Vee project team uses the PDCA cycle on currently active projects. It will highlight planning work using the LPS (Pull Plans & WWP’s) and Adjusting to the Market conditions we are all experiencing. Multiple Lean practices will be mentioned and touched on. This will include both   office and field perspectives on utilizing LEAN tools for these projects.


  • Joshua Thrap is a Senior Project Manager and has been with Hy-Vee Construction for 18 years. He has worked on apartments, retail, spaces, gas stations distribution, and food prosecution facilities. Joshua was an LCI Presenter in 2015, a Master Builder Award recipient in 2018, and received his CM-Lean Designation in 2019.
  • Pat O’Neal is a Senior Project Superintendent. He has worked for Hy-Vee Construction for 12 years and his current project is the Hy-Vee in Springfield,   MO. His goal for this project is Highlight Humanizing safety. Past notable project are Rise/Hyatt on the Riverfront in Iowa City IA, the Waukee IA, Hy-Vee, and Harbach Lofts in Des Moines, IA.
  • Erin Hiscox is a Project Engineer who has been with Hy-Vee Construction for 13 years. She is a member of the technology and safety committee and is the Procore Champion for Hy-Vee Construction and a Builders Club Member for Procore. Erin presented at LCI Congress in 2015 and received the Master Builder Achievement Award in 2019.
