Introduction to Lean Project Delivery

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the breakdowns in current project delivery methods and discover the goals and benefits of implementing Lean.
  • Understand the Foundation of Lean as Six Tenets and identify the Eight Wastes as relevant to design and construction.
  • Recognize that Lean is a shift in thinking and behaviors leading to high-performing teams.
  • Discover key Lean practices and tools that result in increased collaboration and improved project outcomes

 

Instructor:

  • Paz Arroyo is a National Quality Leader at DPR Construction. Paz and her team support Culture of Quality, sharing best practices, delivering training, and connecting with regional operations. She has a strong Lean background rooted in practice and research. She completed her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, studying group decision-making methods. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on Lean, decision-making, quality, and sustainability.
  • Victor Ortiz, Ortiz Consulting Services (MA, Psychology).  Victor has more than 40 years of experience as a trainer, coach and consultant. Vic has trained over 3,000 professionals in Lean practices, meeting facilitation, collaborative teamwork, and successful organization change. Vic has been involved with the Lean Construction Institute since its beginning and facilitated many of the original organizing meetings of LCI. Vic brings a deep understanding of Lean Construction in industrial, process, commercial, and academic project settings.
  • Glen (Sully) Sullivan, McCarthy.  As a licensed Architect Sully has brought his experience on design of Hospital work to his VDC role. Using his understanding of the design processes to help to bridge between the design team and the construction team. With this knowledge he has enhanced the coordination process by working collaboratively with the design team to resolve issues.

 

 This course is registered with AIA CES for 4 LU credits.
