Our Strengths & Differentiators

Our Strengths

LCI Is Unique – Here's Why

Key Differentiators

The LCI board of directors identified the key characteristics and values that the members believe represent “differentiators” between LCI and other organizations involved in promoting the benefits of Lean Design and Construction. Explore them below.

Mission Over Money

While LCI is financially strong, that is not what drives us. We passionately want to fix our broken industry by investing in research and e-learning programs for all. Plus, we work closely with other groups to promote cooperative education in order to spread industry awareness and champion the permanent adoption of Lean.

Innovation and Thought Leadership

LCI’s founders, Greg Howell and Glenn Ballard, conceived and developed the Lean Design and Construction discipline in 1997. Now we represent a robust community of change makers, visionaries, opinion makers and influencers across the AEC industry. Because of the very nature of our belief and faith in Lean practices, we are fervently committed to the betterment of our work for all.

A Learning Mindset

LCI is recognized internationally in the design and construction community as a respected source of information and education. We have become a rallying point for those with a desire to continually improve - as individuals, on a project basis, as an organization, and in our industry as a whole.

Helping Others

Our members are comfortable sharing freely, even with their competitors, and therefore we seek to foster an atmosphere of assisting others. We promote cultural change by encouraging enhanced respect, listening and collaboration among project participants.
