Who Is Managing Design?
This presentation examines the growing use of contractor-side Design Managers and the tensions and redundancies that can be created when architects, builders, and trade partners believe they are filling gaps left by one another. It explores what designers need from contractors during design, what contractors need from designers, where responsibilities overlap, and how integrated teams can reduce redundant effort. Rather than adding more layers of "management," the session proposes to treat design as part of a continuous project production system, pulling information from construction to inform design decisions, engaging expertise at the right time, and improving flow across the entire project.

Company-Wide Lean Culture: A People-First Approach
CORE Construction's Lean journey began with project-by-project wins but evolved into cultural transformation. This session explores leadership alignment, superintendent development, structured learning systems, and measurable accountability. The presentation will discuss how Lean shifted from an isolated project practice to an organizational identity. Attendees will hear lessons learned including: early resistance, performance gaps, practical strategies for building a Lean learning culture, continuous improvement, and Respect for people.
