Lost in Translation: Lean tools for Universal Communication - VIRTUAL EVENT

New Orleans Community of Practice
Oct 9-9, 2026

Not everyone can make it to LCI Congress, so this month, NOLA Lean Coffee brings one of its sessions to you.

Construction projects often feel like nonstop firefighting - interruptions, shifting priorities, communication breakdowns - while running on multiple "languages" at once: trades, cultures, personalities, and different ways of processing information. This session explores how ADHD-related traits show up on the jobsite, and why many of these challenges are really symptoms of systems that overload people with information. Through real project examples, we'll see how Lean tools - visual management, collaborative planning, and daily alignment points - build clearer communication that supports different thinking styles and personalities, helping teams coordinate more effectively.

Speakers:

Heather Ormonde, active in the Lean Construction Institute community since 2010, serves on the AGC National Lean Education Committee, teaches the AGC CM-Lean course, and leads Pursue Perfection Coaching, bringing an owner/designer/GC perspective to Lean culture-building. Brian Chiles, a Lean Specialist at JE Dunn for three years, has applied Lean practices on major projects for Meta, Google, and government clients. Both are LCI Congress presenters — Brian returns in 2026 on Scrum in construction — and Brian also co-hosts The Lean Builder Podcast.
