Reminder: LCI + Dodge Construction Network Survey Closes Soon!

The deadline to participate in the industry-wide project performance survey from LCI and Dodge Construction Network is fast approaching.

Your insights can help the industry better understand which practices, processes, and delivery approaches contribute to more reliable design and construction outcomes.

The confidential survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes and is open to owners, architects, designers, engineers, contractors, and other professionals familiar with project outcomes and delivery methods.

Participants will be eligible to receive a copy of the final findings, which will also be presented at the 2026 LCI Congress on Thursday, October 15. Results will also be posted later on the LCI website.

Make sure your experience is represented.

5 Lessons One Architecture Firm Learned About Lean

When Bill Lett, Principal at Unity Design, reflects on his firm’s Lean journey, one lesson stands out above the rest: great design doesn’t happen despite strong processes, it happens because of them. By embracing Lean principles, Unity Design has strengthened collaboration, created space for creativity, and built a culture of continuous improvement that extends well beyond individual projects.

From planning for inevitable design changes to responding to unexpected challenges without losing momentum, the firm’s experience demonstrates how Lean can become a competitive advantage.

We’ve highlighted five of Bill’s biggest lessons from Unity Design’s journey in a new social media post. Whether you’re just beginning your Lean journey or looking for ways to strengthen your organization’s culture, these practical insights are worth exploring.

Visit LCI’s social media feed to see all of Bill’s insights, then join the conversation by sharing the biggest lesson your team has learned along the way.

How Minimum Functional Standards are Transforming Design and Construction

One of Lean’s primary objectives is reducing unnecessary waste. Most teams focus on production waste, but few recognize the waste created by planning variation. When every planner names tasks differently, tracks different information, or defines readiness differently, teams spend valuable time interpreting work instead of coordinating it. Knowledge becomes tribal. Planning meetings become translation sessions. Data becomes inconsistent. Turnovers become painful.

In this blog, Shane Blanchard from Touchplan shares how Minimum Functional Standards can fill these gaps.
