Highlights from the 2024 Congress
Thank you to everyone who came out to the 26th LCI Congress in San Diego last week! What a fantastic Lean industry event. We achieved our highest attendance ever with over 1,600 attendees, with participants from across the globe and from a variety of markets.
A week packed full of learning began with 28 courses. Many courses came from the LCI curriculum, while others were taught by outside instructors. Topics varied, but all focused on different Lean approaches and methods.
The core program kicked off on Wednesday with keynote speaker Jocko Willink. Jocko’s keynote presentation topic was Extreme Ownership.
Of course, we had a full day of fantastic breakout presentations and Live Labs! Attendees joined exhibitors for a reception on Wednesday evening.
On Thursday, the annual Board Achievement and Design Award(s) were presented to some of the best in the industry.

They are eager to bring content that is of interest and value to the local industry. If you did not already know, volunteers from local organizations lead our CoPs. There are many great offerings to come through the end of 2024 so mark your calendar and engage locally!
Certification Spotlight: Blake Tormey
We are proud to highlight Blake Tormey, one of our newest LCI-CPC certificants! Blake’s journey in Lean represents a commitment to professional growth and to driving impactful change on his projects. When asked what inspired him to pursue the LCI-CPC certification, Blake shared:
“I wanted a credential that would not only solidify my Lean knowledge but also open doors to new opportunities within my field. Lean principles have been at the heart of many successful projects I’ve been a part of, and obtaining this certification felt like a natural next step to push my capabilities further.”
Blake’s perspective illustrates how certification can serve as a valuable career milestone, enhancing both knowledge and opportunity. We congratulate Blake on this accomplishment and look forward to seeing how he continues to apply his skills in the field!

Curated Content: Introduction to Set-based Design
In the built environment, flexibility and adaptability are key attributes to possess while working on a project. This is truer the earlier you are in the project’s life cycle, where your processes and decisions can have a huge bearing on how much time your project will take and how much money it will cost.
Set-based design is a method that keeps requirements and options flexible for as long as it is responsible during the development process. This highly collaborative process leads to less rework during the design phase.
