Owners and Employers Prioritizing Certification is a Game Changer

Owners and Employers Prioritizing Certification is a Game Changer

By Steve Yots, LCI-CPC Vice President of Field Operations, The Boldt Company

Over the past 12 years I’ve been on my lean journey because I believe Lean is the only way to build projects. I saw LCI certification as a way for me to enhance this journey. Even with years of Lean experience, I didn’t know what I didn’t know and LCI’s certification helped me validate that.

While I had both LCI resources and my company’s training materials as refreshers for the exam and portfolio, it really was the encouragement from my employer and our owners that made the difference. We’re a Lean organization and believe Lean (and now certification) is one of our key differentiators.

Boldt had three people start the certification in 2023 and we’re making it a priority for more employees in 2024. We’re also hearing clients talk about making this a requirement in their selection of contractors.

Owners understand the value of what Lean brings and now that they are beginning to make LCI certification a requirement is a real game changer that will only benefit companies like mine that have certified people in the company.  By having the LCI certification I have differentiated myself in the Lean community.
