From Silos to Flow: The Integrated Design Process at Work
LCI National
Learn more
You’ll see how an Integrated Facility Design Process (IFDP) and Lean thinking aligned people, process, and space to drive measurable improvements in flow, engagement, and patient experience. The primary challenge wasn’t architectural — it was operational and cultural. Without alignment, the new facility would simply replicate old waste in a new building. The IFDP was used to build understanding before designing solutions. Lean tools — including Gemba walks, value stream mapping, and flow diagrams — created alignment, reduced waste, and shaped new workflows. You’ll also get hands-on with the 7 Ways problem-solving tool, an effective brainstorming exercise you can bring back to your own team. This case study shows how Lean principles transform not just space, but team culture and...

In this workshop, Jesse will introduce a people first approach to identifying and eliminating the unnecessary burdens that make work harder for our trade partners. By removing friction from daily workflows, we can improve production, unlock the creativity of craft professionals, build trust, and improve quality of life for the skilled workforce.
