Making an Impact: The Future Construction Leaders of Bostonia Global High School

At Bostonia Global High School, the future of skilled trades is taking shape—one project at a time. Future Construction Leaders awarded a $5,000 grant made possible by industry partners including LCI – which provided funds through the 2024 LCI Congress Silent Auction. Thanks to that funding, students in the school’s construction club are gaining hands-on experience that will set them up for success in the industry.

Led by Mr. Rice, a dedicated educator passionate about preparing students for careers in construction, the club is using the grant to buy essential shop tools, hardware, lumber and accessories that will help them propel their construction program and ultimately enhance student learning.

Investing in the Next Generation of Builders

The funds are already making a difference. Students have been designing and building projects, applying classroom knowledge to real-world applications. From sketching out blueprints to constructing tangible pieces, they are developing technical skills that will serve them in the workforce.

One of the most ambitious projects in the works is the conversion of a bus into a mobile welding shop. If approved by the district, this welding bus will allow these young students to gain hands-on welding experience, expanding their skill set and career prospects.

Why This Matters

The skilled trades industry is facing a workforce shortage, and programs like Bostonia’s offer students a direct path to high-demand, well-paying careers. By supporting initiatives like this, we’re not just funding projects—we’re investing in the future of construction.

A Look at the Impact

Our recent visit to Bostonia Global High School highlighted the enthusiasm and dedication of these students. Seeing their projects, plans, and vision for the future reinforced the importance of providing resources for CTE (Career & Technical Education) programs.

What Educators Are Saying

“The scholars were thrilled to accept the funding and have a newfound motivation to build! I have received more proposals with prototypes and plans in the past few months than the previous year in total! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating this opportunity for a community in need. We are forever grateful!” – Mr. Rice, Bostonia Global High School Educator.
