Lean Construction Institute Announces Retirement of Executive Director, Dan Heinemeier

Arlington, VA. – April 2, 2025 – The Lean Construction Institute (LCI) today announced that its Executive Director, Dan Heinemeier, will retire in December of 2025  after more than a decade of exemplary leadership. Dan has served as LCI’s Executive Director since 2013, and his tenure has been marked by exceptional growth and development for the organization.

Under Dan’s guidance, LCI has expanded significantly. Since taking the helm, the organization grew from three to ten professionals, which has been crucial in supporting LCI’s evolving mission to transform the design and construction industry through Lean principles. Dan’s leadership was instrumental in overseeing the growth of LCI’s annual Congress event, the advancement of Communities of Practice, and the successful launch of LCI’s certification programs; all of which have advanced the adoption of Lean methodologies across the design and construction sector.

While LCI will miss Dan’s leadership, his decision to retire comes as he looks forward to spending more time with his wife, Meredith, and their children and grandchildren. We wish him all the best as he embarks on this next chapter with his family.

LCI will begin a search for a new Executive Director in early May. The intention is to have the new leader introduced at the 2025 LCI Congress in Arlington, TX, this October.
