Jobsite Posters Now Available in Spanish!
Due to high demand and consistent with a Respect for People, the Lean Construction Institute is proud to announce that our jobsite posters are now available in Spanish!
The Lean Construction Institute would like to thank our partners at Alberici for spearheading the translation efforts. Here is a message from Alberici on the impact of this initiative:
“As one of North America’s leading contractors with a large presence in Mexico, and a multilingual workforce, Alberici understands the importance of effective communication and minimizing the language barrier is key. We are happy to support translation efforts for LCI as bilingual communications enhance workforce engagement, reduce miscommunication, and ensure compliance with Lean principles. This fosters inclusivity, improves project efficiency, and reduces risks of errors and delays. Additionally, it promotes global consistency in operations, leading to better quality and productivity across diverse regions where Spanish is widely spoken.”
As always, LCI members can download all jobsite posters for free from the Member Hub. Non-members can download them for a small fee – upon purchase, you will be given access to both the English and Spanish versions.
Northern Ohio Community of Practice Highlights Prefabricating for the Cleveland Clinic
Last month, the LCI Northern Ohio CoP hosted a Gemba-style event, sponsored by The Boldt Company, to demonstrate how the Cleveland Clinic is using innovative approaches to prefabrication to solve labor challenges on their projects.
Faced with substantial challenges due to area skilled labor shortages, the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) team and Cleveland Clinic stakeholders created a “Collaboration Council” to study the issue and collaboratively develop solutions.
By evaluating options against Cleveland Clinic’s value propositions, the team identified prefabrication opportunities that could help flatten the labor peak by pulling labor into the process earlier and moving it to a fabrication facility. This can be achieved at equivalent cost to traditional construction. Two teams, led by two separate general contractors, are prefabricating laboratory slide-in pods and multi-trade components in the same space for the same client. Now that’s healthy COOPetition (a term coined by the Clinic for this dynamic!)
The event theme was “Lean in Action,” exemplified by the collaboration and innovation around shared technology and integrated design of two electrical trade partners, Lighthouse Electric Company, Inc. and Zenith Electric, and RG Construction Services and The Helm Group. This includes the application of continuous improvement and shared data, including number of labor hours deferred to the shop, number of months improvement on the schedule, safety and quality metrics.
Many thanks to the individuals and organizations alike who were involved in bringing this event to the Northern Ohio region!
Certificant Spotlight: Eric Lusis
We’re excited to highlight Eric Lusis, one of our recent LCI certificants, who shared his journey and insights into pursuing certification. Below, Eric provides valuable advice for those considering the certification and explains what motivated him to take this important step in his professional development.
Advice for Future Applicants:
Eric emphasizes the importance of understanding your motivation: “Know your why for this certification or any other. What value can you bring to yourself, your organization, and the projects you support? This is key for driving value with what you do!”
What Motivated Him:
Eric’s motivation for pursuing certification goes beyond professional recognition: “This certification not only means a lot to the customers and stakeholders I work with, this certification matters to me a lot as it has helped me articulate all of the learning moments I have experienced, provided a lot of personal reflection for my development, and is also a motivator for others to do the same!”

Organized Gang Boxes Using 5S at Southland Industries
5S is a crucial Lean tool on the jobsite, helping project teams eliminate waste by improving workplace organization and safety.
Explore how Southland Industries organizes tools in gang boxes by introducing a neoprene shadow board for each tool. Jeff Muser shows how gang boxes will become more organized by having only specific tools and limits tools to a specifically sized crew.
Do you have a Lean innovation to share? Or, has your team encountered an issue in the workplace you’re struggling to solve? Submit a short video to the Field Crew Huddle team and we’ll break it down for you!

Curated Content: Introduction to Lean Project Delivery
The construction industry faces significant challenges with traditional project delivery models, including high rates of rework and waste, with 70% of projects delivered late and 73% over budget. This results in shrinking profit margins and dissatisfied owners, with only 9% reporting high levels of project performance. Traditional methods also contribute to countless injuries on job sites every year. Lean Project Delivery offers a transformative approach, creating a built environment where trade partners, project managers, and all stakeholders can thrive, enhancing safety, efficiency, and project outcomes.
