Lean in Design Forum Workshop Spotlight: You Won’t Want to Miss This Unique Learning Experience!
We hope to see you later this month at the Lean in Design Forum, April 30-May 1, in Chicago. Don’t miss our exciting new full-day workshop, Building Foundational Behaviors for Project Lean Leadership, taking place on April 30. Participants will explore the role of a Project Lean Leader—someone who habitually demonstrates Lean leadership behaviors and supports their team in continuous learning and improvement.
Designed for professionals with a foundational understanding of Lean, this unique workshop focuses on developing essential leadership behaviors, including psychological safety, reliable promises, coaching, and PDCA thinking. Through simulated experiences, group discussions, and practical exercises, attendees will strengthen their ability to lead high-performing, engaged teams.
This dynamic course is led by Daniela Gracey, Project Manager, CRB; Matt Kitzmiller, Lean Trainer, Rosendin Electric; and Rebecca Snelling, Owner, RS Consulting.

Member Connections: Explore Lean in the Design Phase eLearning
The 2025 LCI Design Forum is just around the corner—happening April 30–May 1 in Chicago, Illinois! As you prepare for this exciting event, don’t miss LCI’s eLearning course on using the Last Planner System® during the design phase.
This course is free for corporate members and available for purchase by non-members.
You’ll learn how to apply the Last Planner System during the design (pre-construction) phase of a project. The course covers the five key conversations of LPS, explores their core principles, and offers practical guidance and actionable steps for implementation.
P.S. Share your Lean journey with others! Peer-to-peer learning is invaluable in helping others grow. Submit your contributions for five questions, project highlight or company recognition!
Certification vs. Certificate: What’s the Difference?
Ever wonder what the difference is between a training certificate and an industry certification? While they’re often used interchangeably, they represent two very different types of credentials.
Training certificates, like the CM-Lean, are typically earned by completing a course. These programs are great for building foundational knowledge and are often open to anyone. They can be especially helpful stepping stones for those beginning their Lean journey or looking to deepen their understanding along the way.
LCI’s certifications — the Certified Practitioner-Construction (LCI-CPC) and Certified Practitioner-Design (LCI-CPD) — are different. As industry certifications, they go beyond classroom learning to evaluate how you’ve applied Lean on real projects. Whether you’re leading design efforts or driving improvements on-site, earning an LCI certification demonstrates not just what you know, but how you’ve put that knowledge into action.
