An introduction to Lean - FOX VALLEY

Wisconsin Community of Practice

Key Topics Covered:

  • The 8 Wastes of Lean Construction: We will introduce you to the 8 wastes that commonly occur on construction projects and demonstrate how these wastes impact project timelines and costs. Understanding these wastes will help you recognize areas for improvement and unlock the potential for greater efficiency.
  • Applying Lean at Work and at Home: Lean is not just for construction sites! We'll show you how Lean principles can be applied not only at work but also in your daily life, helping you create more value with fewer resources.
  • Understanding the PDCA Cycle: Learn about the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle—an essential Lean tool that helps foster continuous improvement. You'll discover how this iterative approach can enhance project performance and drive sustainable change.
  • PDCA Simulation: Experience Lean firsthand! Participate in an interactive PDCA simulation where you’ll apply the concepts learned during the session. This hands-on activity will help you understand how the PDCA cycle works in practice and how it can be used to solve real-world challenges.

Whether you're new to Lean or looking to refine your approach, this event is designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools to start implementing Lean in your construction projects and beyond.
