Real Talk: Why Project Owners Want Prefab and How Our

Chicago Community of Practice

 

Project Owners in the Chicagoland area have varied experiences with lean design, construction, and prefabrication. This two-part event will bring project owners together in a round table format, where they can discuss their respective lean goals and share lessons learned. Following the owners’ round table is a panel discussion featuring project owners’ prefabrication journey and how the industry can support their prefab goals. 

 

 

Panelists:

  • Elizabeth Lockwood, University of Chicago Medicine
    Elizabeth is a Project Manager with University of Chicago Medicine Facility, Planning, Design and Construction.  One of her current projects is the insertion of two operating rooms on an existing surgical floor using modular wall panels and a prefabricated ceiling system.
  • Daniel Ratko, Rush University Medical Center
    Daniel is Director of Facilities Management at Rush University Medical Center with 15 years of facilities, engineering, and project experience.  Recently completing a modular GMP Cell Therapy Lab with Rada Architects and under contract building a replacement central pharmacy with Eckenoff Saunders.  The modular and prefabricated approach is becoming the preferred strategy for high tech critical facilities that are built within existing facilities. 
  • Grace Gonzaga, Advocate Health
    Grace is a Design Manager at Advocate Health for over 12 years.  She leads the design for the Outpatient Collaborative Program for the Midwest region.  This program's goals focus on pre-fabrication, Lean construction delivery, and standardization for outpatient sites.

  • Alex Chee, Advocate Health
    Alex is a Construction Manager at Advocate Health. He had been involved with Advocate Outpatient Collaborative program in the past, leading prefabrication and lean project delivery. At his current role, he supports capital projects at both Illinois Masonic and Lutheran General. 
  • Jenny Han, The Boldt Company
    As a licensed architect, Jenny leads the Boldt Modular Team revolutionizing the construction industry by maximizing the use of prefabrication on all projects. This provides an edge to attract new clients seeking higher quality buildings, enhances return through safer construction environments and delivers projects 40-60% faster to enable a much quicker return on investment.
